Love Is Spelled T-I-M-E

Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands. Ecclesiastes 5:15

I’m making a guess that I believe is accurate. I don’t have any statistics or hard evidence to verify my conviction, but here it goes any way. I believe that this statement is a very safe one to make: Never in the history of mankind has a man or woman while laying on their death-beds, while breathing their last breath, with their last words have they said, “My one and only regret is that I didn’t spend more time at work, job, office or company”.

For most if not all, their one regret would be not spending enough or more time with their family or loved ones. When we are about to die, we don’t think about the report that we didn’t finish, the business meeting we didn’t attend or anything that has to do with our work for that matter. At that time, in that moment all we will only think about is the birthday parties and cakes we missed, the anniversaries we completely ignored, the school plays we brushed-off, the little-league games we never showed up to and all the time with our family we allowed to slip through our fingers like water.

We’ll hurt for all the “could’ve”, “should’ve”, “would’ve” but didn’t. We’ll be consumed by the thoughts of every promise we broke to that little lonely child or our patient waiting spouse. The words of “I could’ve done better, I should’ve done better, I would’ve been there but…, Oh why didn’t I make the time when I had the time to make it with?, Why wasn’t I there?; will burn in your heart. You see the greatest tragedy is not a life that is shortened by a tragic event; the greater is to not have known how to have invested in our family whatever short-time we were entrusted with while on earth.

Here is a great truth that I pray you may engrave in your hearts and never forget; Love is spelled: T-I-M-E! Don’t allow another day, hour, minute or second to waste away. Seize every opportunity you can to invest your life with your family. Heck, don’t wait, make the opportunities to invest time with your family. Naked we all came into this world, and naked we will exit. Riches, bank accounts, cars, houses, jewelry, stocks, bonds, 401’s, will stay. But what we will truly leave behind is the legacy of our lives, how we loved and with our time marked we our loved ones hearts. Love is spelled T-I-M-E; don’t waste it!
